If you make one resolution about improving your accounting procedures in 2012, it should be this: Make extensive use of the tools that QuickBooks offers for report modification. Comprehensive, meticulously-shaped reports that flow out of your carefully-constructed records and transactions are your reward for pounding on the keys every day, conscientiously recording income and expenses.
Refunds. You probably wince at the word. Some â like customer refunds for returns â are fairly uncomplicated, thanks to QuickBooks’ tools. Others, not so much. You may find yourself unable to balance your accounts receivable.
No matter which version of QuickBooks you’re using, there are always ways to make your workday easier. As with any software, we tend to learn the features we need and not much more. As it usually does this time of year, Intuit has introduced new versions of its Pro and Premier products. QuickBooks 2012 promises to help you get better organized, save steps, and acquire more in-depth financial insights.
Small businesses can get more done in less time while managing their finances with best-selling QuickBooksÂŽ financial software from Intuit Inc. (Nasdaq: INTU). New and improved features in QuickBooks Pro and Premier 2012 help small businesses uncover new business insights, get organized and save steps on mundane accounting tasks. The software goes on sale Sept. 26.
Data entry and modifications in QuickBooks can be tedious. Beginning with QuickBooks 2010 Pro Edition and above, that job got a lot easier. The Add/Edit Multiple List Entries tool does just what its name implies: It lets you add entries to your lists of customers, vendors, services, inventory parts, and non-inventory parts. It also makes changing one or several of them quick and easy.
The IRS has evidently changed it’s mind about increasing the standard business mileage rate in light of the increased costs of gasoline etc.Â Effective July 1st through the end of December 2011 the new standard business mileage rate is 55.5Â˘
Effective July 1, 2011, the one percent sales and use tax rate increase that was approved with the state budget and effective April 1, 2009, will expire lowering the statewide base tax rate from 8.25 percent to 7.25 percent.
Document Management is free in QuickBooks 2010, and it will stay that way until 2013, but, after May 15, it will no longer be free in QuickBooks 2011.

To comply with password protection requirements going into effect July 1, 2010, anyone using Merchant Service-enabled QuickBooks files must download the June 2010 update. Without this update, you will not be able to open any company files that do NOT have âCustomer Credit Card Protectionâ enabled.
